HKTV 香港電視 will launch on 19th November 2014!

Exactly one year ago I came to Hong Kong for the very first time to support HKTV. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone! I’m very inspired by Ricky Wong and his team. In spite of all the obstacles that HKTV have faced over the years, they have persevered and kept on going. They were determined to find a way to broadcast and they have made that dream come true. What an inspiring example they are to all of us as to why you should never give up on your dreams! I wish them huge success because they deserve it! Support!!!

Need For Love - Kashy Keegan

Following the success of his song 'This Is My Dream' that was used both for the London Olympics 2012 and as the theme song for Ricky Wong’s HKTV, Kashy has unveiled the official video for his brand new single 'Need For Love' taken from his soon to be released album.

The video was directed by Kris Ip and shot entirely in Hong Kong by a local crew including some former HKTV employees.

Both the song and the video have a message. Despite modern technology and the endless ways we have to connect, reports suggests that we are actually lonelier than ever. Some say our addiction to machines 24/7 is affecting our ability to connect with our lives and the people around us.

“People seldom smile or even say hello to each other anymore. A lot of us are too busy looking at our phones and trying our best to avoid any kind of face to face interaction. You don’t often see that many examples of compassion, warmth, or friendliness. I have noticed this and felt this way for quite some time and so wanted to express my feelings about it.”

In the video Kashy wanted to hold a mirror up to modern habits and highlight how we’ve become more social in a virtual way but not in person - we’re connected but alone: “Despite the basic need for love that we all have, I wanted to show how modern society can, at times, seem quite loveless and isolating - I guess I’m not the only one who must have felt this way.”

Kashy relocated from London to Hong Kong in April 2014 and after signing with local record company Evolution Music Group; he has been working on writing and recording his new album which is due for release in October.

'Need For Love' is one of the new songs featured on Kashy’s forthcoming new album 'This Is My Dream' to be released through Evolution Music Group on October 27th 2014.

Ever since I wrote my first song over 15 years ago, all I wanted was for people to be able to hear my music and listen to the lyrics and be able to decide for themselves whether they like it or not. For so long people never got a chance to hear my songs because nobody in the music industry gave me a chance to be heard. It has been a long, long road with so many obstacles in the way to get to a point whereby people can finally hear my songs.

I remember when I fist heard the song 'Listen' by Beyonce back in 2006 and it blew me away! I could relate to every lyric as if they had been taken from my soul. Shortly after hearing 'Listen' I was inspired to write 'This Is My Dream'. Now, 6 years later, many people have finally had the chance to hear my music. I am so glad that I didn't listen to other people and give up on my dream. The lesson I learnt is, no matter how people try to discourage you, never give up! I didn't and I am so pleased that I kept going! Because in the end someone did listen to me and amazingly I got to perform 'This Is My Dream' in front of a crowd of thousands and it went to number 1 on the Hong Kong iTunes download chart on 25th October 2013. It's been a long journey, but eventually my dream to have my music heard did come true. Thank you so much for all your support!

"Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start and I WILL complete...."

Nelson Mandela Song

Fly like An Eagle - a song dedicated to the man and his life - Nelson Mandela.

I wrote this song about rising above any form of negativity and not allowing yourself to be held captive by it. I can't think of anybody else who embodies this more than the incredible Nelson Mandela. His life story serves to be a timeless inspiration and a true testament to the resilience of the human spirit... To overcome adversity, rise above negativity, to channel the higher mind, to fly like an eagle... Few have done this more majestically than Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela Song - Fly like An Eagle

Music & lyrics (Kashy Keegan 2006)

Verse 1:

I know it can't of been easy
With all that life has thrown at you
And though sometimes you came close
To giving up
It never broke the strength in you

Bridge 1:

When people try to break you down
With the hurtful things they say
If you rise above to your higher mind
You'll never be the bird they cage

Fly like an eagle
Cos you were born to fly
Don't let them break your spirit now
Or take away your light
You can rise above their darkness
Cos they'll never reach your height
Just fly like an eagle
Cos you -
Yes you were born to fly

Verse 2:

When darkness falls around you
And you're stuck without an escape
There's no one around
Who will lift you out
Of that dark and lonely place

Bridge 2:

When the weight of the world is on your shoulders
You feel your dreams will never take flight
If you rise above to your higher mind
You'll find your way up to the sky

Fly like an eagle
Cos you were born to fly
Don't let them break your spirit now
Or take away your light
You can rise above their darkness
Cos they'll never reach your height
Just fly like an eagle
Cos you -
Yes you were born to fly

Middle Eight:

Free from all that frustration
And the pressure that's in your life
You can rise above the negativity
If you just use your higher mind

Fly like an eagle
Cos you were born to fly
Don't let them break your spirit now
Or take away your light
You can rise above their darkness
Cos they'll never reach your height
Just fly like an eagle
Cos you -
Yes you were born to fly
